KUALA LUMPUR, 30 July 2025 – RedGames Jam returned for its third edition, with grand prize winners Team Glep earning an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2025 Tokyo Game Show as part of the AirAsia Dream It brand experience, which recently concluded in Kuala Lumpur. Team Glep joined last year’s competition and returned stronger to claim the top spot this year.
AirAsia has hosted RedGames Jam for three years to spotlight regional game development talent. This year’s edition joins the Dream It brand experience, which amplifies Southeast Asia’s growing games community.
Moreover, the game will potentially be playable on AirAsia MOVE via the ‘RedGames’ tile on the app.
The Grand Prize winners created a game called Tappy’s Time Off, based on AirAsia’s own IP, AirAsia Buds. In the game, Tappy the Tapir juggles work duties while secretly planning his dream vacation. Players help Tappy navigate hilarious office distractions and avoid getting caught by his watchful boss.
Izal Azlee, Head of IP Development at AirAsia brand co (Abc.), said:
“After three years of RedGames Jam working with the community, I would say that this is the biggest turnout that we’ve had. From SEGA to Asia Pacific University, we are again providing a chance for budding game developers to experience the Tokyo Game Show. This year’s competition is especially meaningful, as it forms part of AirAsia’s broader brand campaign, The Colour of Connection (TCOC). The initiative falls under the Dream It banner, which aims to unite and empower specific communities through creativity, collaboration and shared experiences.”
Kenny Yeow, the team lead of Team Glep, said:
“My teammates and I are proud of this achievement, and RedGames Jam is an event that we look forward to every year. The opportunities that AirAsia presents to us, game developers, are life-changing, and we highly encourage other aspiring game developers to be part of future editions of this great event.”
Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Tan Chin Ike, Head of School, Asia Pacific University (APU) said:
“I strongly believe that great games start with great talent. Through this exciting
partnership with AirAsia, we are providing an opportunity for young talents and aspiring game developers to not only showcase their creativity and flex their technical muscles but also gain a life-changing level-up by building confidence, receiving mentorship and power-ups from industry practitioners and taking meaningful steps toward a future in the game development industry.”
Team LOGIC – Greybox from Binus University, Indonesia, claimed first runner-up, winning cash prizes and exclusive AirAsia merchandise. Additionally, they received tickets to gamescom asia x Thailand Game Show and roundtrip flights to Bangkok for the 3-day convention. Moreover, along with the Top 10 RedGames Jam entrants, they will showcase their games at Level Up KL— a premier Southeast Asian game developers conference organized by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).
As the entry point to the Dream It experience, RedGames Jam opens doors for the grand prize winners to explore Tokyo’s vibrant gaming and cultural hotspots.
There, they will gain insights, inspiration, and a broader perspective on the global video games industry. Furthermore, this initiative reflects AirAsia’s ongoing commitment to championing dreams and nurturing ASEAN talent through People, Places, and Passion.
