The Sandbox Collective will mount Duncan Macmillan’s play ‘People, Places, and Things’ as a stage reading for a strictly limited run this August.

Directed by Sab Jose, the play follows the successful actress Emma, whose carefully constructed life unravels as she wrestles with addiction and memory in rehab. Macmillan’s work was first presented in London on 1st September 2015, going on to win its lead Denise Gough a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Play.

Star-studded lineup

Emma will be alternately played by Bela Padilla and Gabby Padilla. The former makes her theatrical debut, while the latter is coming off of Sandbox’s production of ‘Tiny Beautiful Things’ and Repertory Philippines’ production of ‘I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change.’

Supporting Emma is Jake Cuenca, who returns to the stage to take on the role of Mark. Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, last seen in Philippine Opera Company’s production of ‘Master Class’ and Sandbox’s production of ‘Spring Awakening’ will play several characters: Doctor, Therapist, and Mom. Also last seen in ‘Spring Awakening’ is Audie Gemora, who will appear as Paul and Dad.

Completing the cast are Robbie Guevara as Foster, Reb Atadero as T, Brian Sy as Shaun (and understudy for Mark), Mariella Laurel as Laura, Pamela Imperial as Charlotte, Miel Abong as Jodi, and Salve Villarosa van Schoonhoven as the Narrator.

The Sandbox Collective’s staged reading of ‘People, Places, and Things’ will run at The Black Box of the Proscenium Theater in Rockwell, Makati. It will only have four performances, running at 3PM and 7:30PM on August 15 and 16 (Saturday and Sunday).
